Village Council to Consider Rental Occupancy Permit and Vacant Property Registration LegislationThe Village of Orwell Council is considering proposed legislation that would authorize the Village Manager to establish a Rental Occupancy Permit and Vacant Property Registration Program.The proposed legislation seeks to establish uniform occupancy and minimum property maintenance standards for rental and vacant properties throughout the Village. These measures are intended to promote public health, safety, fire prevention, and the overall welfare of residents and neighborhoods within the Village of Orwell.If adopted, the legislation would establish registration and inspection requirements, property maintenance standards, and enforcement procedures, including penalties for noncompliance.The proposed legislation will undergo three public readings at Village Council meetings before a final decision is made. Residents, property owners, and other interested parties are encouraged to attend these meetings to learn more about the proposed requirements and provide public input throughout the legislative process.
